If they ask you why I’ve gone away

or couldn’t stand another day

of pending which, to go or stay

She had to leave, is what you’d say.

If they ask you why I won’t call back

and run the risk of an attack

from those, respect I clearly lack

because of this, it’s simply that.

If they ask you why I can’t forget

all that’s been said, or better yet

the pain and tears forever set

Her heart has lost the will to bet.

One day, I’m sure, the time will come

and I’ll return, my mourning done

family lost, forgiveness none

to stand by you – my only one.
